In the remote villages of Bundelkhand, elderly parents face an uphill struggle after their children migrate in search of work, leaving them behind in quiet, deserted homes. The aging population is left to battle loneliness, isolation, and the daily challenge of survival in a region that has seen multiple crop failures owing to droughts that have fuelled migration for decades.
In Part 1 of this series, reporter Sneha Richhariya visits Bundelkhand to explore the emotional impact of this migration among the elderly who remain in villages.
